El tremendo crecimiento del alumnado, vinculado a la cualidad policéntrica y emergente de la ciudad de Lima, ha suscitado que la UPC potencie su infraestructura con múltiples expansiones, ampliaciones, y nuevos Campus. Dentro de este fenómeno, la Facultad de Arquitectura se ha visto directamente afectada debido al inducido déficit de espacios y servicios para el correcto desarrollo y funcionamiento de la misma. Sumando este problema a la necesidad general de espacio del Campus Monterrico, se decidió plantear una ampliación de dicho Campus que funcionará como Edificio de la Facultad de Arquitectura y además abastecerá como equipamiento al resto de la Universidad.
El proyecto enfatiza la idea del vínculo y la integración. La idea es generar una atmósfera de aprendizaje, inspirando y concientizando a los estudiantes de arquitectura sobre la simbiosis del hombre con su entorno y cómo a través de su disciplina pueden y deben contribuir a reforzarla, diseñando siempre pensando en el vínculo entre las variables de hombre, espacio y entorno. Esto se logra a través de una red de espacios vinculadores, donde se fomenta la congregación y encuentro de los estudiantes experimentando las sensaciones producidas por la tectónica y el contacto con los elementos naturales. / The tremendous growth of the student body, a direct consequence of the capital city of Lima´s burgeoning and polycentric nature, caused our University (UPC) to strengthen its infrastructure through several extensions and new Campuses. This phenomenon had a direct impact on its School of Architecture due to the induced deficit of proper specialized spaces and services for its correct development and functions. Adding this problem to the overcrowding and insufficient infrastructure of the University´s Monterrico complex motivated the proposal for an expansion of this Campus, which would serve both the unique needs of a building for the Architecture School and the general equipment UPC requires at this particular location.
The Project emphasizes the idea of integration and linking through the creation of a learning atmosphere that will inspire and raise awareness on its architecture students about the relation of men and its surroundings, and how through their discipline they can and must contribute to it, always designing thinking about the interaction and connection of between inhabitant, space and environment. This is achieved through a network of linking spaces where students meet and interact while experiencing the tectonic sensations of the building and in contact with natural elements. / Tesis
