Gemensamma hem och delade ytor : Hyresgästers upplevelser av gemensamma ytor i deras bostadsområden

The aim of this thesis has been to look into tenants' experiences of the sheared spaces in their residential area and what effect these experiences have on their feelings for the place with an emphasis on well-being and safety. It has also examined tenants' actions as to how and why they are acting to improve the shared spaces. The thesis has used a qualitative method by conducting in-depth interviews with eight tenants in four different residential areas in the urban area of Uppsala and used a thematic analysis to construe the empirical material. The result shows that the physical and social environment both influence the experience while personal resources and the activities tenants take part in, in the residential area, also shapes the experience. Place attachment and time, the knowledge of how long they plan to live there, affects how active a tenant is in improving the shared spaces. In conclusion, the physical environment shapes and creates a ground for activities and the social environment to improve, and personal resources will always influence a person's experience of space. While place attachment can be seen as a reason for actions or not in the residential area.
