The purpose of my study was to investigate how girls and boys are produced in the picture book, to contribute knowledge about gender in children's literature but also to see what gender images the children meet through the picture book. To find that out, I chose to analyze four picture books between 2013-2016 because it would probably describe how girls and boys are seen today. The result I got was that girls were in a higher grade more norm breaking in both characteristics and appearance than boys where. The boys could be depicted with female characteristics and clothing, but not as much as girls in tough clothes and male behavior. It was also found that the older girls were more caring than the younger ones and that the older boys had more power.
