Bakgrund: Det är viktigt att patienten kan erbjudas vård i hemmet i livets slutskede, vilket den kommunala hemsjukvårdens sjuksköterskor ansvarar för. Syftet: Att belysa sjuksköterskors erfarenheter av palliativ vård som utförs i den kommunala hemsjukvården i ordinärt boende. Metod: En intervjustudie med kvalitativ manifest innehållsanalys med induktiv ansats där 19 sjuksköterskor intervjuades under våren 2020. Alla intervjuer spelades in och transkriberades. Resultat: De analyserade intervjuerna utmynnade i fem kategorier: Känslomässig påverkan, Vara ett stöd för patient och anhöriga, Behov av samarbete med andra vårdinstanser, Organisationens förståelse för palliativ vård samt Sjuksköterskornas behov av kompetensutveckling. Konklusion: Sjuksköterskorna har en central roll i den palliativa vården som utförs i hemmet. De ska finnas där både för patienten och dess anhöriga. Den palliativa vården väckte känslor hos sjuksköterskorna och var tidskrävande vilket bidrog till att de upplevde otillräcklighet. Det förekom brister av sjuksköterskeresurser, avlastning med övriga arbetsuppgifter, möjlighet till kompetensutveckling samt långa transportsträckor. Sjuksköterskorna lyfte samarbetet med regionen och hade önskemål om ökad läkartillgänglighet från primärvård främst i centralorterna. Sjuksköterskorna uttryckte behov av reflektionstillfälle, organiserad handledning, kontinuerlig fortbildning, mentorskap inom teamen för kompetensutveckling samt ett kommunalt palliativt team. / Background: It is important that the patient can be offered care in the home at the end of life, for which the municipal nursing home nurses are responsible. Aim: The purpose was to elucidate nurses' experiences of palliative care performed in municipal home care in ordinary living. Method: An interview study with qualitative manifest content analysis with inductive approach in which 19 nurses were interviewed in the spring of 2020. All interviews were recorded and transcribed. Results: The analyzed interviews resulted in five categories: Emotional impact, Be a support to the patient and relatives, Need for collaboration with other healthcare agencies, The organisation's understanding of palliative care and Nurses' need for skills development. Conclusion: The nurses have a central role in the palliative care performed in the home. They should be there for both the patient and their relatives. The palliative care creates emotions for the nurses and was time consuming which contributed to their experienced insufficiency. There were shortcomings of nurse resources, relief with other duties, opportunities for skills development and long transport distances. The nurses highlighted the collaboration with the region and had a desire for increased medical access from primary care, primarily in the central areas. The nurses expressed the need for a reflection opportunity, organized supervision, continuous training, mentoring within the competence development teams and a municipal palliative team.
