Esther Forbes, contemporary New England writer

"This paper has two purposes: (1) to bring together for the first time, and make available for future reference, biographical and bibliographical material concerning Miss Forbes and her works; and (2) to present an analysis of the evaluation accorded her publications. The procedure followed in gathering this material was to check such sources as Cumulative Book Index, Reader's Guide to Periodical Literature, International Index, Short Story Index, Biography Index, Essay and General Literature Index, Book Review Digest, and the various indexes in the field of American literature. Each of the titles is analyzed on a basis of its reviews in periodicals and by its listing in the A.L.A. Catalog, the Fiction Catalog, the Bookman's Manual, the Children's Catalog, the Standard Catalog for High School Libraries, as well as other recognized selection guides"--Introduction. / Typescript. / "August, 1958." / "Submitted to the Graduate Council of Florida State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science." / Advisor: Louise Galloway, Professor Directing Paper. / Includes bibliographical references (leaves 66-82).
