Statslösa i stadens skugga : En undersökning av Stockholm stads kommitté för statslösa flyktingars hjälpverksamhet 1944–1964

This paper deals with refugee aid in Stockholm, more specifically the organization Stockholm stads kommitté för stadslösa flyktingar. It was a committee with the aim to help stateless refugees in Sweden, primarily Stockholm, between the years 1944 and 1964. This subject is part of a larger field of research about relief work and refugee aid in Sweden in the aftermath of the Second World War and the Holocaust.  By analysing how the committee received the refugees and what kind of network they used and to what extent the members used said network, it can be determined what role the committee had regarding refugee aid work in Sweden. The study shows that due to the committee members personal networks as well as the organizations collaboration with other organizations and government agencies, the committee were able to help refugees with education, work, housing, and health care. The committee was part of a large network of NGO’s as well as different authorities and could because of it act without the same restriction as NGO’s and other government bodies had.
