The study aims to examine the staff`s experiences, how they act and what knowledge and information they receive about domestic violence among elderly in elder care. Five participants from nursing home and home care service were studied with semi-structured interviews. The interviews were analyzed thematically and applied on theories about ageism and stigma. Results show four themes: Experiences and handling, Experiences – Factors that increase vulnerability, Information about domestic violence and Hidden problem. Findings indicate that ageism could be linked to lack of information about domestic violence among elderly and low level of further education in workplaces in elder care. Findings also indicate that there are several hidden cases of domestic violence staff in elder care fail to recognize partly because of the stigma and shame that is attached to the problem.
