I ett samhälle där kraven på utbildning blir allt högre och valmöjligheterna allt fler, ökar också pressen på individen att ta ansvar för sin karriärprocess. Flera rapporter visar att elever på de individuella programmen är i stort behov av vägledningsinsatser. Syftet med vår undersökning är att belysa vägledningen på det individuella programmet. För att uppnå syftet har vi utgått från följande frågeställningar:1)I vilken utsträckning är studie- och yrkesvägledningen på det individuella programmet en process?2)Vad innehåller studie- och yrkesvägledningen på individuella programmet?3)Hur ser studie- och yrkesvägledarna respektive eleverna på vägledningen?Vi använde oss av kvalitativa intervjuer då vi ansåg att detta passade undersökningens syfte bäst. Resultaten av undersökningen visar att elever på det individuella programmet har en mycket begränsad uppfattning om vad studie- och yrkesvägledning innebär. Trots detta är eleverna nöjda med den vägledning som tillhandahålls. Det framkommer också att den typ av vägledning som bedrivs på IV-programmet skiljer sig från den definition av studie- och yrkesvägledning som används i vår undersökning. Nyckelord: individuella programmet, studie- och yrkesvägledning, gymnasieskolan. / In a society where the demand of having an education increases, along with the options available, the pressure on the individual to take responsibility for their own career process becomes greater all the time. Several reports show that students at the individual program are in need of career guidance. The purpose of our study is to illustrate the career guidance provided for students at the individual program. To achieve the purpose we formulated three main questions:1)To what extent is the career guidance at the individual program a process?2)What does the career guidance at the individual program contain?3)What are the career counsellors’ and the students’ opinions on the guidance provided?We used qualitative interviews as a method because we found that it was the most appropriate way to achieve the purpose of the study. The results of the study show that students at the individual program have a very limited perception about what career guidance means. Despite this, the pupils are satisfied with the career guidance provided. It was also revealed that the career guidance that is provided at the individual program differs from the definition of career guidance that we use throughout the study.
