Objetivos: Avaliaram-se, por meio de MEV, instrumentos endodônticos do sistema rotatório Ni-Ti, antes e após o uso, considerando limpeza defeitos e deformações. Método: Vinte instrumentos, das marcas Twisted File, BioRaCe, Mtwo e EndoWave foram fotografados com aumento de 190 vezes quanto à presença de sujidade. As limas foram lavadas e novamente fotografadas para visualizar defeitos tendo como critérios a presença ou não de borda irregular, ranhura, microcavidade e rebarba. Realizou-se preparo dos canais radiculares simulados, nova limpeza e análise microscópica dos instrumentos após cinco usos. Após análise em MEV e de posse dos escores dos avaliadores, os dados foram submetidos à análise estatística utilizando o Teste Exato de Fisher para os itens sujidade e defeitos e Teste U de Mann-Whitney com estatística descritiva, média, desvio padrão, coeficiente de variação e inferência estatística utilizando nível de significância de 5% no teste de Kolmogorov-Smirnov para o item deformações. A determinação do Coeficiente de Correlação Intraclasse para verificar concordância entre os avaliadores foi realizada pelo Teste de Kappa. Resultados: A diferença estatisticamente significante ocorreu entre Mtwo com outros instrumentos no item sujidade (p<0,05). Houve diferença estatisticamente significante entre Twisted File e outros instrumentos (p<0,05) quanto a defeitos. Não houve diferença estatisticamente significante quanto a deformações entre os grupos (p>0,05). Conclusão: Todos os instrumentos estavam sujos, exceto a marca Mtwo. A presença de defeitos foi observada em todos os instrumentos Twisted File, enquanto que para os instrumentos BioRaCe e Mtwo este índice foi menor. Os instrumentos EndoWave não apresentaram os defeitos citados. Quanto à deformação para os grupos avaliados, os mesmos comportaram-se de forma semelhante. / Objectives: It was assessed, by using SEM, some endodontic instruments of Ni-ti rotary systemb, before and after using them, considering their cleanness, defects and deformities. Method: Twenty instruments from the trademarks Twisted File, BioRąCe, Mtwo and EndoWave were micrographed by increasing them 190 times to check their cleanness. The files were washed and micrographed again to visualize alterations as the presence or absence of irregular edge, groove, microcavity and scraping. Simulated root canal preparation was performed using these instruments. The instruments were cleaned and received a microscopic analysis after they were used five times. After the analysis using SEM and having the avaliators scores, the results were statistically compared using the Fishers Exact Test for the items dirt and defects, and the "U" Mann-Whitneys Test with descriptive statistics, the average data, the standard deviation, the coefficient variation and statistical inference, using a significance level of 5% in the Kolmogorov-Smirnov Test for the item deformations. The determination of the intraclass correlation coefficient for evaluating agreement between the avaliators was done using the Kappa Test. Results: A statistically significant difference occurred between Mtwo and the other instruments analyzed, on the item dirt (p<0.05). There was, also, a statistically significant difference related to deformities between the Twisted File and the other instruments (p<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference on deformities between the groups (p>0.05). Conclusion: All instruments were dirty, except the brand Mtwo. All instruments Twisted File showed some defects, however damage was lower on the BioRąCe and Mtwo. The EndoWave instruments didnt show the related defects. On the other hand, all groups of instruments evaluated showed similar deformation.
