The aim of this work is to describe the development of Spanish piano music during the nineteenth
and early twentieth century. Individual chapters are devoted to specific authors, who are exponents
of this period, and to explain in detail their style and their most important works, within the
contemporary political and social context, both in Spain and in Europe.
The first chapter also deals with more historical development of Spain and describes a social
movement operating across the continent.
At the end, I summarize the most important conclusions.
