Denna uppsats har för avsikt att gå in på djupet inom ett eventuellt förväntningsgap mellan internrevisionen och dess intressenter. För att öka förståelsen analyseras internrevisorers uppfattning av intressentkraven såväl som förväntningsgapets effekt på internrevisorernas roll. Uppsatsen har genomförts genom en kvalitativ metod och en abduktiv ansats. Nio semistrukturerade intervjuer har utförts. Därefter har en tematisk analys genomförts. Det råder en viss problematik med internrevisionens uppdragsgivare och deras involvering i kommunikationen av deras förväntningar på internrevisionsfunktionen. Problemet ligger i uppdragsgivarens kunskap om internrevisionens roll såväl som i uppdragsgivarens oförmåga att förmedla sina förväntningar. / This thesis is intended to go into the depths of a possible expectation gap between the internal auditing and their stakeholders. To increase the understanding there will be an analysis of the internal audits perception of the stakeholders expectations as well as the expectation gaps impact on the internal audit’s role. A qualitative research method where an abductive approach has been applied. The empirical data in this study was gathered through nine semi-structured interviews. Subsequently, a thematic analysis has been carried out. There is a certain problem with the internal audits principal and their involvement with the communication of their expectations for the internal audit function. The problem lies in the principal's knowledge about the internal audit’s role as well as in the principal's inability to convey their expectations.
