Bakgrund: Palliativ vård innebär främjande av högsta möjliga livskvalitet när en patient befinner sig i ett sjukdomsskede där bot inte längre är möjligt. I livets slutskede övergår vården från ett livsförlängande syfte till att lindra lidande. I vårdandet av den palliativa patienten förekommer olika faktorer i omgivningen som påverkar sjuksköterskors upplevelser i det patientnära arbetet. Syfte: Syftet var att beskriva sjuksköterskors upplevelser av att vårda patienter i den senare fasen inom palliativ vård. Metod: En litteraturöversikt med kvalitativ ansats som inkluderar 12 studier där sjuksköterskors upplevelser berörs. Artiklarna hittades i Medline via Pubmed. Huvudresultat: Tre huvudteman identifierades, varav ett med tre subteman; Bristande utbildning och beredskap som berör kunskapbristerna och dess påverkan på sjuksköterskors upplevelser, Kommunikation i det palliativa vårdandet med subteman kommunikation och bemötande av palliativa patienter, kommunikation som hinder inom arbetsplatsen och kommunikation och etiska dilemman som berör betydelsen av kommunikation, olika faktorer som kan ge upphov till dilemman i vårdandet och faktorer som påverkar sjuksköterskors arbete och Copingstrategier i det palliativa vårdandet som berör strategier för att hantera de svåra situationerna som uppstår inom palliativ vård. Slutsats: I den senare fasen av palliativ vård upplevde sjuksköterskor ett behov av bredare kunskap och hade svårigheter med bemötande och i vårdandet av patienter. Påfrestande situationer ansågs ge upphov till etiska dilemman och hinder inom arbetsplatsen som gav ett behov att tillämpa copingstrategier för bearbetning. Sjuksköterskors upplevelser av att vårda palliativa patienter i den senare fasen var varierande men påfrestande utifrån olika faktorer. / Background: Palliative care means promoting the highest possible quality of life when a patient is at a stage of the disease where cure is no longer possible. In the end-of-life, care transitions from a life-prolonging aim to alleviating suffering. In the care of the palliative patient, there are various factors in the environment that influence nurses' experiences in the work close to the patient. Aim: The aim was to describe nurses' experiences of caring for patients in the later phase of palliative care. Method: A literature review with a qualitative approach that includes 12 studies where nurses' experiences are concerned. The articles were found in Medline via Pubmed. Findings: Three main themes were identified, one with three subthemes; Inadequate training and preparedness concerning the lack of knowledge and its impact on nurses' experiences, Communication in palliative care with sub-themes communication and treatment of palliative patients, communication as an obstacle in the workplace and communication and ethical dilemmas concerning the importance of communication, various factors that can give rise to the dilemmas in care and factors that affect nurses' work and Coping strategies in palliative care that concern strategies for handling the difficult situations that arise in palliative care. Conclusion: In the later phase of palliative care, nurses experienced a need for broader knowledge and had difficulties in meeting and caring for patients. Stressful situations were considered to give rise to ethical dilemmas and barriers within the workplace that created a need to apply coping strategies for processing. Nurses' experiences of caring for palliative patients in the later phase were varied but stressful based on various factors.
