The Industrial Revolution in the teaching books - A study of the industrial revolution in three teaching books). MethodThe study derives from Geoffrey Partington’s theory on historical significance and tests it together with a classical background-event-course model on the teaching books account of the Industrial Revolution. A quantitative questionnaire study among upper secondary school history teachers where preformed to capture their views on the Industrial Revolution and the teaching book’s account for it.ResultsThe three examined book’s accounts of the Industrial Revolution are ambivalent. One book’s (Allt om historia) account of the Industrial Revolution is inferior. All books suffer from a difficult and poor use of language. The teachers in the study considered the Industrial Revolution to be very important but also pointed out that the pupils often thought it difficult and boring.
