of literature in high school, it is time to systematize and seek theoretical support for such
observations. This work aims to verify how is the deal of literature as a school subject and to
what extent the school so fluent readers. Believing also in the true sense of academic research
and its power of action and transformation, this study seeks to echo forward at an alarming
and discrete problem in the literature tract as school discipline. Alarming by the facts that we
bring to the surface and discreet by the lack of attention that it has gained over the decades,
lack of attention that may have irreversible consequences if the matter is not brought up and
discussed with the rigor it deserves. Seeking to write a reflective soul of work and
comparative body, is elected Portugal as a reference in comparison, given the close
connection that the teaching of literature in Brazil carries with Lusitania, and finding also
from Portugal, interest in Brazilian literature teaching, is the language of sharing, either by a
common past, or even other interests that may be descortinados throughout the research. / Com o passar dos anos e ao apurar das observações de uma prática docente dedicada
ao ensino de literatura no Ensino Médio, faz-se hora de sistematizar e buscar amparo teórico
para tais observações. Este trabalho busca verificar como se dá o trato da literatura como
disciplina escolar e em que medida a escola forma leitores fluentes. Acreditando, ainda, no
verdadeiro sentido da pesquisa acadêmica e em seu poder de ação e transformação, este
estudo busca fazer eco frente a um problema simultaneamente alarmante e discreto no que se
refere ao trato da literatura como disciplina escolar. Alarmante pelos fatos que vamos trazer à
superfície e discreto pela falta de atenção que a questão vem ganhando ao longo das décadas.
Falta de atenção que, inclusive, pode ter consequências irreversíveis se o assunto não for
trazido à tona e discutido com o rigor que merece. Buscando escrever um trabalho de alma
reflexiva e de corpo comparativo, elege-se Portugal como referência para comparação, devido
à íntima ligação que o ensino de literatura no Brasil exerce com a Lusitânia, e também dado o
interesse de Portugal no ensino de literatura brasileira, seja pela partilha da língua, ou pelo
passado em comum.
