Klimatanpassning av dricksvattenförsörjning : möjligheter och begränsningar / Climate change adaptation of drinking water supply : opportunities and barriers

Drinking water is our most important food and are essential for all life and health. The effects of climate change can affect Swedish raw water resources and increase disruptions to drinking water pipes and water treatment plants. Some effects are already seen today and in a changing climate, the consequences are expected to increase. Climate adaptation of drinking water supply is an important condition for securing drinking water in the future, in this work Sweden's municipalities play an important role. Drinking water management is complex and should be weighed against current and future risks to water quality and water supply. The study applies theories of climate-related risks and factors that can influence the climate adaptation process. The aim of the study is to examine opportunities and barriers of climate adaptation of drinking water supply. A case study has been used as a study design. Through literature studies, interviews, and document analyses, factors that enable or limit the climate adaptation process within drinking water supply are identified and systematized. Three municipalities in Värmland, and their work in climate adaptation of drinking water supply is compared with each other. Regional and national perspectives of the adaptation process are also compared to the local perspectives. The study finds that there are several factors that can enable or limit climate adaptation in drinking water supply.
