Glukosintolerans och diabetes typ 2 blir allt vanligare. Det är en negativ utveckling som sker världen över. Syftet med denna litteraturstudie var att undersöka vad sjuksköterskan kan göra för att hjälpa patienter med nedsatt glukostolerans att genomföra bestående livsstilsförändringar. Resultatet från tolv vetenskapliga artiklar sammanställdes med Leininger’s omvårdnadsteori om culture care som teoretiskt ramverk. Resultatet visade på att för att åstadkomma en varaktig förändring av livsstil är det viktigt med en kontinuerlig patientkontakt under en längre tid, där konkreta och praktiskt tillämpbara individualiserade råd om kost och motion ges. Viktigt för sjuksköterskan är att använda de hjälpmedel som finns, samt att man samverkar med andra professioner inom hälso- och sjukvården. Det är även av vikt att ha Sunrise-modellen i åtanke för att kunna ge en individanpassad vård i ett mångkulturellt samhälle. / Glucose intolerance and diabetes mellitus type 2 are becoming more common. This is a worldwide negative development. The goal with this literature review was to examine what the nurse can do to help patients with impaired glucose tolerance to carry through changes of lifestyle that will last over time. The result from twelve scientific articles was synthesized with the nursing theory of culture care according to Leininger as a theoretical framework. The result showed that to accomplish a durable change of lifestyle is it of importance to keep a continuous contact with the patient for a longer period of time, where specific and applicable individualised advise on diet and exercise are given. It is important that the nurse uses existing tools and co-operates with other healthcare professions. It is also of importance to keep the Sunrise model in mind to be able to give individualised care in a multicultural society.
