Social mediers påverkan på den journalistiska profession : Vart går gränsen mellan att vara personlig och objektiv som journalist på sociala medier? / The impact of social media on the journalistic profession : Where is the line between being personal and objective as a journalist on social media?

Journalism has changed in many ways in today's society. The emergence of digitization has created a new format for journalists to work on. Social media is an example of that and one of the largest reasons for the development that has taken place. Today´s journalists must work at a high speed to produce as much news as possible but especially know how to use social media platforms to reach out and attract an audience both for private use and at work. For journalists social media is a way to create interaction and participation. Journalists get the opportunity to be personal and create their own branding in the text.But where does the limit go from being objective and personal? Can it harm the journalists credibility and the ideal concept objectivite if they expose personal opinions and emotions?In this study six journalist from three huge swedish news media – Svenska Dagbladet (SvD), Aftonbladet och SVT has been chosen whose purpose is to examined the balance between being personal and objective as a journalist on social media that proceeds from the questions: 1. In what way does six professional journalist from Svenska dagbladet (SvD), Aftonbladet och SVT use social media platforms in their work respectively in their personal life?2. In what way do interviewees feel that social media can influence the role of the journalist? The results show that these journalists have similar answers and opinions about how they use social media platforms for personal use and at work. They said that not a day goes by without them using social media. The majority also said that social media can iibe useful for their daily work and to build a relationship with the audience because it can create trust among them. Although they can see a potential danger for the journalists occupation. Therefore the results show that the journalist thinks it's hard to know where the border goes, and as a reason for that they often say that every newsroom does not have a unified approach to the situation.
