Bemötandet av barns utmanande beteende i förskolan ur ett omsorgsetiskt perspektiv

This study aims to reveal what preschool teachers and pedagogues think about and how they act when it comes to meeting the behavior and needs of children with challenging behaviour from a perspective of ethics of care as developed by Nel Noddings. Statistics claim that this kind of behavior is on the rise and it is therefore of relevance to see how teachers and pedagogues can give care to children who displays behavioral problems. We used a method of interviews with selected staff who works in the preschool environment and discovered that most of the interview subjects expressed a similar view overall as to what is conceived as a challenging behaviour. Emphasis was put on the importance of good social relations, even when it comes to describing physically aggressive behavior they spoke of this as a result of failing social relations between children and adults as well as between children. The interviewed also largely expressed a subjective view on children with this kind of behavior and argues that listening, confirming and upholding an ongoing dialogue play a key role in constructing an optimal approach in dealing with challenging behaviour.
