This thesis has been carried out to the Technology Group at industrial plant Tube Mill 2012, which belongs to the Sandvik AB. Technology Group is a unit that takes care of all requirements and suggestions regarding investigations, test runs and design modifications. The main objective is to identify and analyze the existing initialization process to see where improvement opportunities exist and to come up with suggestions for improvement, supported by previous research and literature. An extensive literature search and case study has been conducted to provide a solid foundation to refer to during the work. Completing the interviews and the workshop gave a clear picture of their unstructured work and approach, how the low requirements on the received orders caused problems for the group as well as the lack of a standardized resource allocation method provides major delay factors. Solution proposal then became a very easy process model in five steps with all the information gathered in one place. Each step has its own side but a bulleted list that is used for the record which gives the work a very lucid and clear status explanation. Further research proposals for the development of their resource allocation, and to start working in teams are given.
