Previous issue date: 10 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / Este estudo identifica e analisa as características das vivências pública e privada da mulher branca porto-alegrense, através da investigação dos processos de divórcio entre os anos de 1774 e 1887 registrados no Arquivo da Metropolitana de Porto Alegre. O método utilizado foi o de pesquisa exploratória documental, analisando os registros de cronistas e viajantes, os processos de divórcio e a bibliografia disponível nesse campo de estudo. Notou-se que o estereótipo da mulher passiva, submissa cedeu espaço, gradativamente, a personagens dispostas a sofrerem com as agruras de um pedido de divórcio negado. Cansadas de apanhar, serem traídas e verem seu patrimônio dilapidado por interesses de seus pares, essas mulheres são descritas nos processos de divórcio investigados, tais como nos registros de viajantes: determinadas, ocupando os lugares reservados a elas e defendendo seus interesses e os de sua família. Portanto, é contribuição desse trabalho a utilização de fundamentos da micro-história no sentido de contri / This study identifies and describes the characteristics of the public and private existences of the white woman native of Porto Alegre through the investigation of the divorce processes from 1774 and 1887, registered in the Metropolitan Curia of Porto Alegre. It was used the method of documental exploratory research, analyzing registers of chroniclers and travelers, divorce processes and the available bibliography of this study field. It was noticed that the passive woman's stereotype, submissive gave up space, gradually, to characters feeling like suffering with the roughness of a denied request of divorce. Tired of being hit, betrayed and seeing their patrimony dilapidated by interests of their peers, those women are described in processes of divorce investigated and in travelers' registrations as: determined, occupying places reserved to them and defending their own and their family interests.
