Previous issue date: 2012-11-26 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This thesis aimed to investigate whether the ProUni, while Public Policy on Access to Higher Education, enabled better insertion in the labor market, as well as improvements in the socioeconomic status of their graduates. The reference used it is theoretical discussion on the themes: youth, work and education. We seek to understand the problems of the study, using as reference the following authors: Marcio Pochmann, Jose Pastore, José Dias Sobrinho, Maria Carla Corrochano, Gaudencio Frigotto, Antonio Chizzotti, Geraldo Romanelli, Pierre Naville, George Friedmann, among others. The ProUni is constituted as a public educational policy that attends mostly to youth, and arises in the context of the need to expand access to higher education. In this thesis it was used the qualitative research, which developed a process marked by reflections in the construction of knowledge, and the collection of data obtained through electronic questionnaires and interviews. The study subjects were young people who have completed graduation by ProUni in Higher Education Institutions located in the capital of São Paulo State, Brazil. To the graduates of ProUni, attend a graduation represented new perspectives for enhancing knowledge, social relations, professional training opportunities, access to the labor market and social mobility. The access to educational levels, from elementary education up to the college level, alone, are not sufficient to ensure social mobility, but without access to education, certainly makes more difficult the social evolution of these young people in the Brazilian social scale / Esta tese teve por objetivo investigar se o ProUni, enquanto Política Pública de Acesso à Educação Superior, possibilitou melhores condições de inserção no mercado de trabalho, assim como melhorias na condição socioeconômica dos seus egressos. Tivemos como referência a produção teórica sobre os temas: juventude, trabalho e educação. Buscamos compreender a problemática do estudo, usando como referência os seguintes autores: Marcio Pochmann, José Pastore, José Dias Sobrinho, Maria Carla Corrochano, Gaudêncio Frigotto, Antônio Chizzotti, Geraldo Romanelli, Pierre Naville, George Friedmann, entre outros. O ProUni se constitui como uma política pública educacional que atende majoritariamente a juventude, e surge no contexto da necessidade de ampliação do acesso à Educação Superior. Utilizamos a pesquisa qualitativa, que se desenvolveu num processo marcado por reflexões na construção do conhecimento, e na coleta dos dados obtidos através de questionários eletrônicos e entrevistas. Os sujeitos da pesquisa foram jovens que concluíram a graduação pelo ProUni em Instituições de Educação Superior localizadas na capital de São Paulo. Para os egressos do ProUni, cursar uma graduação representou novas perspectivas de ampliar o conhecimento, as relações sociais, as possibilidades de formação profissional, o acesso ao mercado de trabalho e a mobilidade social. O acesso aos níveis educacionais, desde a educação fundamental até o nível superior, isoladamente, não são suficientes para garantir uma ascensão social, mas sem o acesso a educação, certamente torna-se mais difícil uma evolução desses jovens na escala social brasileira
