Artificial intelligence permeates all industries nowadays, including the accounting sector. The benefits of cost reduction and efficiency improvement in accounting through AI implementation have been emphasized by several researchers. The purpose of this study is to describe how companies currently utilize artificial intelligence in the accounting process to decrease costs and enhance efficiency. A deductive approach was used, and to gain a deeper understanding of AI implementation in accounting, a qualitative approach was applied through qualitative interviews. The data was collected from five respondents, transcribed, and analyzed. The sample consisted of five accounting economists from different accounting firms with a mix of experiences in accounting. The study revealed that AI is not fully implemented in the accounting industry, but it simplifies the work for accounting economists through the use of various AI systems. AI systems can handle bookkeeping, compile financial statements, and facilitate information retrieval. Accounting economists now have the opportunity to provide advisory services, strengthening customer relationships. Therefore, AI contributes to cost reduction and increased efficiency in the accounting process. / Artificiell intelligens genomsyrar alla branscher nuförtiden, bland annat redovisningsbranschen. Fördelar med kostnadsreducering och effektivisering i redovisningen genom AI implementering har betonats av flera forskare. Syftet med denna studie är att beskriva hur företag i dagsläget använder sig av artificiell intelligens i redovisningsprocessen för att minska kostnader och öka effektiviteten i redovisningen. En deduktiv ansats användes och för att få en djupare förståelse om AI implementeringen i redovisningen tillämpades en kvalitativ ansats med hjälp av kvalitativa intervjuer. Materialet samlades in genom fem respondenter som transkriberades och analyserades. Urvalet bestod av fem redovisningsekonomer från olika redovisningsbyråer som hade en blandning av erfarenheter inom redovisning. Studien visade att AI inte är fullt implementerat i redovisningsbranschen men det förenklar arbetet för redovisningsekonomer genom användning olika AI-system. AI-systemen kan bokföra, sammanställa bokslut och underlätta informationssökningen. Redovisningsekonomer har nu möjligheten att ge rådgivning vilket förstärker kundrelationerna. AI bidrar därför till kostnadsreduktion och ökad effektivitet i redovisningsprocessen.
