Previous issue date: 2015-06-01 / This dissertation objective is to present a study of Social Representations of psychologists that work at the ?United System of Social Assistance? (SUAS). This anlayis was based on the theory of Social Representations (SR), developed by Serge Moscovici. The SR are a way of explanation and assimilation of science and the unknown shared by different groups. The SR have great importance in daily life because their role is to guide, identify and qualify the new, ensemble. For this research the subjects were the participants of the ?United System of Social Assistance? and public politic. They deliberated at the IV Social Assistance Coference in 2003, organazing what was in the Organic Law of Social Assistance (LOAS) of 1993. This is part of the Social Welfare foreseen at the constitution of 1988. Among the professionals that can create the work teams, the emphasis is made upon the psychology professional. The psychologist was included as a SUAS worker after the Human Resources Basic Operational Norm (NOBRH). This professional, that, until then, had his focus on the health and the work of clinics, sees a new market possibility. This entrance of the professional at the SUAS happened just when the profile of the psychologist professionals started to change. A university major that was, until then, considered elitist and working for dominant practitioners, assumes the commitment of the Brazilian society. It is through the basic knowledge of the participant of the assistance politics that the analyze at this dissertation, how is the entrance of the psychologists at the SUAS and what's the response to it?
