Unlike for legal, scientific or literary texts, it is generally considered that tourist texts do not present any difficulties that require the involvement of a professional translator. Considering the development and specialization the tourism industry has been subjected to for some years, it is strange that this point of view does not seem to change. The aim of this paper is to examine the semantic problems that are found in the translation of a specialized tourist text, as well as the techniques that are used to solve them, keeping always in mind the purpose of the target text and the different backgrounds of the presumptive readers.
