Previous issue date: 2007-01-29 / This work had for objective to argue the practical of skate of street (streetskating) through its representations in the urban space. Leaving of the analysis of a North American videoset
of documents, intitled "Dogtown and Z-Boys: Where Everything Started ", a series of pertinent questions to the body, the appropriation of the urban spaces and to the youthful processes of identification was developed. One is about a research on the history of the present time, that hits upon for a period of transformations understood enters the decades of 70 and 80 of the passed century, characterized here as of after-modernity. After to
characterize the beginning of the development of skate in the United States, was broken for the analysis of this practical in national territory, using itself for in such a way a series of
magazines, letters, depositions and photographs of skate. The association between this activity and the contraculture, as well as with movement of the punk-rock and the cunnings
of the cultural industry, had revealed good for a context understanding of this practical cultural / Esta dissertação teve por objetivo discutir a prática do skate de rua (streetskate) através de suas representações no espaço urbano. Partindo da análise de um vídeo-documentário
norte-americano, intitulado Dogtown and Z-Boys: Onde Tudo Começou , desenvolveu-se uma série de questões pertinentes à corporeidade, à apropriação dos espaços urbanos e aos
processos de identificação juvenis. Trata-se de uma pesquisa sobre a história do tempo presente, que atina para um período de transformações compreendido entre as décadas de
70 e 80 do século passado, caracterizado aqui como o da pós-modernidade. Após analisar o início do desenvolvimento do skate nos Estados Unidos, partiu-se para uma discussão dessa
prática em território nacional, utilizando-se para tanto uma série de revistas, cartas, depoimentos e fotografias de skate. A associação entre esta atividade e a contracultura, assim como com o movimento do punk-rock e as artimanhas da indústria cultural, mostraram-se profícuas para melhor qualificar essas representações e apropriações do
espaço urbano
