Bakgrund Stockholms stad växer i raskt tempo och många områden som tidigare bestod till största delen av handel eller industri omvandlas till bostadsområden. I takt med att staden växer och drar mer folk till sig måste också stadens funktioner utökas och integreras i de växande stadsdelarna. Förskolor, skolor och univeristet är viktiga institutioner i samhället och vi låter de ta mycket plats i våra städer. I samband med att utbildningar har genomgått en förändring de senaste årtionde och står famför nya utmaningar idag måste arkitekturen anpassar sig till två viktiga faktorer: stadens utveckling och kraven på skolor i ett modernt samhälle. Ett mer flexibelt sätt att undervisa i skolor liksom en oumbärlig roll som digitala vertyg spelar i dagens utbildning har förändrat vårt sätt att bruka skolan. Nya strategier måste hittas för att skolan i framtiden ska vara ett viktigt landmärke i vårt samhälle. Område Med ombyggnationen av Slakthusområdet som är beläget söder om Stockholm ytterligare ett område som tidigare var dominerad av industrin ska omvandlas till en ny stadsdel. En blandning av bostäder, handel, arbete såsom offentliga funktioner ska prägla den nya stadsdelen och en viktig del i planeringen är skolor som ska vävas in i stadsstrukturen. Stockholms stad har tagit fram ett förslag då flera gymnasieskolor flyttas in i befintliga byggnader som ska bevaras med vissa förändringar för att kunna fungerar som skolor. Vissa funktioner som inte kan flyttas in i de befintliga byggnaderna ska rymmas i omkringliggande byggnader. Program Projektet är en kompletterande byggnad som ska rymma sådana funktioner som inte kan integreras i de befintliga byggnaderna och ska samla funktioner som är gemensamma för de omkringliggande skolorna. Lärocentret ska omfatta publika utrymmen som ett café, en utställningsyta, en scen/black box och ett multifunktionellt torg som kan anpassas efter behov för större tillställningar som avslutning eller föreläsningar. Andra delen av programmet omfattar generösa studieytor med platser för varierande arbete. Den öppna läromiljön ska ge gymnasieeleverna möjligheten att använda lärocentret efter sina egna behov och även letar sig dit efter skoltiderna. Dessutom erbjuder byggnaden ett bibliotek med stora utrymmen för samlingar liksom grupprum och olika undervisningsrum. En del av byggnaden omfattar kontor för administrationen. / Background Stockholm city is growing at fast rate and many areas that formerly were mainly commerce- or industrial areas are transformed into residential areas. At the same pace the city is growing and more people are drawn to it the city‘s institutions need to expand and be integrated in the growing districts. Nurseries, schools and universities are important institutions in our society and we give them the space they deserve in city planning. In accordance to the changes the educational system has been subjected to during the last decades and the new challenges it‘s facing architecture has to adapt to two important factors: the city‘s development and the demands that are made towards schools in a modern society. A more flexible way to learn and the indispensable role digital tools play in present-day education has changed how we use our schools. New strategies must be found for our educational institutions so that they retain their role as a pillar of society. Area The rebuilding of Slakthusområdet (Stockholm‘s slaughterhouse district) which is located south of Stockholm is yet another district formerly dominated by the industry that is transformed into a new urban district. A composite of housing, commerce, offices and public institutions are to form the new part of the city and an important part in the planning is to weave in schools into the urban fabric. Stockholm city has proposed a plan where several secondary schools are moved into existing buildings, that are to be preserved with some changes, to function as schools for the district. Some functions that can‘t be accommondated in the existing buildings are to be moved into surrounding facilities. Program The project is a complementary building that is to accommondate such functions that can‘t be integrated into the existing buildings and collect such that are collective for the surrounding schools. The learning center contains public spaces such as a café, an exhibition, a stage/black box and a multifunctional auditorium that is adaptable to the current needs for bigger functions like graduation ceremonies and lectures. The second part of the program comprises generous study areas with spaces for various ways of learning. The open learning environment gives students the possibility to use the learning center according to their own needs and even to study there after school hours. In addition to the study areas the building includes vast spaces for the library‘s collection as well as group rooms and several class rooms.
