Utformandet av programmet kring ett nytt lärocentret vid Slakthusområdet har tagit sitt avstamp i ett ställningstagande kring vad ett lärocenter kan vara. I detta projekt har har avskildhet för studier prioriterats, som en mer klassisk tolkning av studiemiljö, samtidigt som behovet av en kulturell och transparent mötesplats beaktats. Processen har kretsat mycket kring att se Lärocentret som något liknande ett kulturhus och en plats som i sitt konceptet kan ses som en stadsstruktur med sina gator och torg, snarare än endast en individuell byggnad. Målet har varit att försöka ta in den kringliggande miljön i ett slags inre torg - en mötesplats för alla och entré för det lokala biblioteket, samt en omfattande serverings- och restaurangverksamhet, samt entré för en mer privat undervisningsbyggnad. Biblioteket och undervisningsbyggnaden har fått egna visuellt distinktiva volymer och båda dessa är upphöjda över entréplanet så att man på detta har fri sikt 360 grader mot angränsande stads- och parkliv. Inte bara detta ska bjuda in omgivningen i byggnaden, utan även gatorna och dess materialitet från ett större område, fortsätter in och manifesterar sig kring och i det inneslutna torget. En tredje volym utanför klimatzonen utgör entrén ner till en blackbox (teater). / The undertaking of the program of a new learning center at Slakthusområdet, has mainly been deduced from an interpretation of what a ”learning center” can be. In this project there has been a priority to spaces where to study in a calm and more private context, more like the classical idea of a school building. But at the same time, the site’s need of a cultural meeting point, transparent to the surrounding city, has also been a driving force in the process. This process has in turn taken the idea of a learning center to the vicinity of being a culture center, with the concept of its inside mimicking the structure of a city with its streets, squares and buildings, rather than just being a single entity. This has resulted in an attempt to welcome in, and literary draw surrounding streets in to the building (which's utter structure works as a climate zone). Within it’s climate zone, the ”main square” has entrances to a restaurant area, a local library and a more closed off school building. The library and the school building are visually distinctive and recognizable from each other and they are both lifted upp from the entrance floor so that you here have a 350 view over the surrounding city landscape. A 3d main volume is located outside the climate zone, clearly within visual contact at the entrance floor and on stories above, and marks the entrance of a black box (theatre).
