The technological advances have impacted all spheres of society, modifying the forms of relationship between the subjects and of these with the information and communication systems. These changes require, in the educational sector, the breaking of paradigms, placing the student as the center of the teaching- learning process, rather than mere spectator. In this sense, the objective of this work was to investigate the use of the WebQuest methodology as an element of mediation of the teaching andlearning of Biology. The work is part of PPGTER's Network of Educational Technologies Development research line and has as final product the production of two WebQuests. The work was developed in a first year class of the polytechnic high school of the night shift, and later evaluated and reapplied the following year in the same class (second year) of a school of the state public network of the city of Santa Maria - RS. This is a qualitative research, of the research-action type, considering as subjects 13 students, aged between 16 and 38 years and the researchers involved. The data collection instruments adopted were a questionnaire containing open and closed questions and the exchange of information between researchers and students on the social network Facebook ©. The results show that the Web 2.0 resources planned and oriented through the WebQuest methodology make it possible to arouse interest in learning, to guide work more effectively and to provide knowledge construction in a socio-constructivist perspective. / Os avanços tecnológicos vem impactando todas as esferas da sociedade, modificando as formas de relação entre os sujeitos e destes com os sistemas de informação e comunicação. Essas mudanças requerem, no setor educacional, o rompimento de paradigmas, colocando o estudante como centro do processo de ensino-aprendizagem, ao invés de mero espectador. Nesse sentido o objetivo desse trabalho foi investigar o uso da metodologia WebQuest como elemento de mediação do ensino e aprendizagem de Biologia. O trabalho se enquadra na linha de pesquisa de Desenvolvimento de Tecnologias Educacionais em Rede do PPGTER e possui como produto final a produção de duas WebQuests. O trabalho foi desenvolvido em uma turma de primeiro ano do Ensino Médio politécnico do turno noturno, e posteriormente avaliado e reaplicado no ano seguinte na mesma turma, de uma escola da rede pública estadual da cidade de Santa Maria – RS. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa, do tipo pesquisa-ação, considerando como sujeitos 13 estudantes, com idade entre 16 e 38 anos e as pesquisadoras envolvidas. Os instrumentos de coleta de dados adotados foram um questionário contendo questões abertas e fechadas e as trocas de informação entre as pesquisadoras e os estudantes na rede social Facebook©. Os resultados apontam que os recursos da web 2.0 planejados e orientados por meio da metodologia WebQuest possibilitam despertar o interesse pelo aprendizado, orientar o trabalho de forma mais efetiva além de proporcionar a construção de saberes numa perspectiva sócio construtivista.
