In Sweden the amount of people with obesity has increased with almost 50 % during the past 20 years and is now including 500 000 people. A larger energy intake than energy consumption is today one of the most important cause of overweight and obesity that exist in the world. This requires more knowledge about healthier eating habits combined with moderate intensive exercise, exercise that is simple, effective and amusing. A god solution is a combination of fitness training and strength training, a type of circuit training. It is distinguished by a high intensive work in short periods and with a short break. Circuit training is a sort of exercise where you perform different exercises at stations and where several persons can participate at the same time. The purpose in this study was to find out if Itrims circuit trainingprogramme can improve the person’s strength and fitness ability. Further, through a questionnaire, find out if the person’s own experience of strength and fitness ability and wellbeing have been affected by the exercise program, and the persons opinion about the exercise, circuit training. The exercise program is Itrims circuit training and it will be carried out 2-3 times a week in 10 weeks. The results of the study were better than expected. The results showed that the people had improved their strength, with a few exceptions. The same results were shown in the fitness test where the majority of the persons improved their test results at the end of the study. The majority of persons also experienced improved strength and fitness ability compared to the first time. Still it would have been even more interesting if the writer have had more subjects to the experiment which had resulted in larger amount of test results and questionnaires to analyse.
