The purpose of this essay was to examine which treatments child and adolescent psychiatry and youth clinics use and how they discuss these choices. We examined how social workers in child and adolescent psychiatry and youth clinics relate to medical and psychological therapy. The paper describes two organizations, child and adolescent psychiatry and youth services, and what treatment options there are in the two activities. The idea is also to describe the attitudes the professionals have to the different treatment options. The essay is based on social workers who work with children and young people aged between 12 and 23 who have problems with including depression. We have analyzed our material by using theories of epistemology. What is the epistemology of medical and psychological therapy? And are social workers knowledge enough to be able to work with young people who suffer from depression and anxiety?
