In spite of the Swedish Armed Forces endeavors to increase diversity, Officers and senior Non-commissioned officers of foreign background are underrepresented. Little is known about their own perspectives on the barriers to a more diverse officer corps. This explorative study brings out the perspectives of Swedish officers and senior NCO:s through semi-structured interviews. The results suggest that ethnicity is given less attention compared to other strands of diversity, but also that ethnicity is a sensitive topic in the Swedish context, which also might be one reason that other aspects of diversity are given more attention. As expected no previously unknown barriers were discovered, however the respondents´ views on how to tackle these barriers is an important contribution as such.
