La finalidad de este estudio fue determinar los valores hematológicos de la huangana (Tayassu pecari) criada en cautiverio en el Zoológico PATPAL, para lo cual se seleccionaron 44 animales, distribuidos en 21 hembras y 23 machos, criados bajo las mismas condiciones de manejo, alimentación y sanidad. Los animales fueron anestesiados con ketamina (15mg/kg), usando un bastón jeringa, las muestras de sangre fueron colectadas de la vena yugular utilizando vacutainers con anticoagulante EDTA. Se determinó el Recuento de Glóbulos rojos (GR) y Glóbulos blancos (GB) mediante el uso de la cámara de Neubauer, La Hemoglobina (Hb) mediante la Cianometahemoglobina, el hematocrito (Ht) mediante el método del microhematocrito y el Recuento diferencial mediante la coloración Wright.
Los valores obtenidos fueron: GR (106/ul) 8.15, Hb (g/dl) 13.13, Ht (%) 44.23, VCM (fl) 54.71, CHCM (g/dl) 29.65, HCM (pg) 16.20, GB (103/ul) 12.29, Abastonados (%) 0.05, Neutrófilos (%) 54.66, Linfocitos (%) 42.32, Basófilos (%) 1 y Eosinófilos (%) 1.95. Estos valores son similares a los reportados en estudios anteriores en el sajino (Tayasu tajacu). No se encontraron diferencias estadísticamente significativas entre machos y hembras. / -- The purpose of this study was to determine the hematological values of the white-lipped peccary (Tayassu pecari) bred in captivity at the Parque de las Leyendas Zoo, a total of forty-four animals were enrolled distributed in twenty-one females and twenty-three males, kept under the same conditions of handing, feeding and health. The animals were anesthetic with ketamine (15mg/kg) using a pole syringe, the blood sample were collected from the jugular vein using vacutainers containing EDTA. We determined the Red blood cell count (RBC) and the White blood cell count (WBC) by using the Neubauer’s camera, the Hemoglobin (Hb) was determined with the Cyanomethahemoglobin, the Hematocrit (Ht) calculated with the Microhematocrito method, and the count differential by Wright stain.
Our results were : RBC (106/ul) 8.15, Hb (g/dl) 13.13, Ht (%) 44.23, VCM (fl) 54.71, CHCM (g/dl) 29.65, HCM (pg) 16.20, WBC (103/ul) 12.29, Band neutrophils (%) 0.05, Neutrophils (%) 54.66, Lymphocytes (%) 43.32, Basophils (%) 1, Eosinophils (%) 1.95. These values are similar to the reported in previous studies in collared peccary (Tayassu tajacu). In this study were not statistically significant differences between males and females.
