funcionamento da Casa de Câmara e Cadeia da província goiana no século XIX.
E mais que isso, ao conhecer as nuances de seu funcionamento revelar, a que
condições estavam submetidos os(as) condenados(as) que estiveram
trancafiados na enxovia de nossa cadeia. Para se chegar a tal objetivo fez-se um
levantamento de fontes importantes, como o regulamento da cadeia goiana
datado de 1847. Através de sua leitura ficam claras as rígidas obrigações a que
estavam subordinados os funcionários daquela instituição. Outro importante
objetivo que se busca cumprir é o de revelar, ou melhor, dar voz aos excluídos,
até então, de nossa história. E como as mulheres dentre os excluídos, tem menos
vez e voz, optou-se por conduzir uma pesquisa voltada ao registro de suas
histórias, registradas em meio a processos armazenados no arquivo do poder
judiciário/escrivania do crime da cidade de Goiás. Da análise dos processos
envolvendo as mulheres transgressoras, consegue-se identificá-las e ouvi-las,
mesmo que por documentos produzidos por terceiros. Assim se revelam mães,
trabalhadoras e negras forras. Todas passivas de se envolver em pequenos
delitos, por motivos dos mais banais até os mais graves que levavam ao
cometimento de homicídio.
