Previous issue date: 2017-07-24 / The present Dissertation aimed to better understand the experience of religiosity / spirituality (R / S) in lesbian, gay and bisexual people (LGBs). Therefore, three studies were carried out. On the First Study, the scientific production (national and international) towards the religious / spiritual experience of LGBs was raised. The review included the SciELO, PePSIC, LILACS, IndexPsi, PsycINFO, PUBMED, and E-journals databases, from 2005 to 2015. Of the 58 articles analyzed, the empirical, cross-sectional and qualitative studies were predominant. R / S integration strategies and homosexuality, as well as R / S as a risk and / or protection factor. In Study II, the R / S -related factors of 181 gays and lesbians from Fortaleza, CE (M = 31.28 years of age, SD = 7.75) were investigated. The instruments evaluated sociodemographic characteristics, R / S levels, social support and internalized homophobia; Descriptive and inferential statistics were calculated in the SPSS. The findings pointed that most participants were engaged in some formal religion or spirituality; That they tend to focus on middle and high spirituality groups; That R / S correlates positively to age, cohabitation time and satisfaction with social support - family and intimacy, and negatively to income; And that increased age and satisfaction with social-intimacy support were more strongly associated with R / S. In Study III, the religious / spiritual conceptions and practices of 10 LGBs (between 19 and 55 years), memberships on different religious affiliations (Catholic, Evangelical, Spiritist, Candomblé and Spiritualist) were described. For data collection, an interview with a triggering question was used, and the analyzes were probed by the Iramuteq software. The results revealed that participants consider R / S an important dimension in their lives; differentiate one dimension from the other; recognize the importance of the family of origin in their religious / spiritual experience; and mention several strategies for integration (eg, selective outness, social support network, and change in perception / focus, among others) of R / S and their sexual orientation. It provides evidence to the importance of researching religious experience of LGBs, both, for the relevance that this dimension takes on in their lives, and for the (still) marked presence of homophobia towards this population.

Para isso, foram realizados três estudos. No Estudo I, levantou-se a produção científica (nacional e internacional) sobre a experiência religiosa/espiritual de LGBs. A revisão incluiu as bases SciELO, PePSIC, LILACS, IndexPsi, PsycINFO, PUBMED e E-journals e o período de 2005 a 2015. Dentre os 58 artigos analisados, predominaram de estudos norte - americanos, empíricos, transversais e qualitativos, cujo foco eram as estratégias de integração R/E e homossexualidade, além da R/E como fator de risco e/ou proteção. No Estudo II, investigaram-se os fatores relacionados à R/E de 181 gays e lésbicas de Fortaleza, CE (M = 31,28 anos de idade; DP = 7,75). Os instrumentos avaliaram características sociodemográficas, níveis de R/E, suporte social e homofobia internalizada; e estatísticas descritivas e inferenciais foram calculadas no SPSS. Verificou-se que a maioria dos participantes se disseram engajados em alguma religião formal ou espiritualidade; que eles tendem a se concentrar nos grupos de média e alta espiritualidade; que a R/E se correlaciona positivamente à idade, tempo coabitação e satisfação com o suporte social ¿ família e intimidade, e negativamente à renda; e que o aumento da idade e a satisfação com suporte social- intimidade, estiveram mais fortemente associados à R/E. No Estudo III, descreveram-se as concepções e práticas religiosas/espirituais de 10 LGBs (entre 19 e 55 anos), com vinculações a distintas filiações religiosas (católica, evangélica, espíritas, candomblecista e espiritualista). Para isso utilizou-se uma entrevista com pergunta disparadora para coleta de dados e o software Iramuteq nas análises. Constatou-se que os participantes consideram a R/E como uma dimensão importante em suas vidas; diferenciam uma dimensão da outra; reconhecem a importância da família de origem na sua vivência religiosa/espiritual; e mencionam diversas estratégias de integração (e.g. saída do armário seletiva; utilização da rede de apoio social; e mudança na percepção/foco, dentre outras) da R/E e sua orientação sexual. Corrobora-se a importância de se pesquisar a experiência religiosa de LGBs, tanto pelo lugar de destaque que essa dimensão assume em suas vidas, quanto pela presença (ainda) marcante da homofobia contra essa população.
