Previous issue date: 2004-12-09 / There is a close relationship between the work and the health and it can be observed from the humanity's most remote periods. Modernly, with the advent of new technologies and automation of the production, the diseases osteomusculars related to the work (DORT), have been increasing their worldwide incidence. The capitalist paradigm of production is an important factor in that context, not just influencing the etiology of those diseases, but their treatment and the form like them are lived socially. In that way, it is necessary an approach centered in the man and in the culture for a larger approach with this object. This study had the objective of describing the form as municipal workers have been living the DORT. This is a descriptive study of qualitative nature with ethnographic perspective accomplished at the Providence Institute of Fortaleza - CE in the period of April to August of 2004. The research was submitted to the Ethics Committee of the University of Fortaleza - UNIFOR having been approved. A total of nine servants constituted the research informers that had as instrument collection the semi-structured interview. The data were organized and presented in form of categories: To notice sick; Reactions front to the diagnosis and treatment; the disease repercussions in the daily; existence of the interpersonal relationships with the disease. Based in data we can infer the DORT importance in the workers' life. The health education in that DORT context has the sense of favoring changes in the work, providing the construction of a healthy atmosphere. Another aspect is the form as those diseases are diagnosed, treated and lived, demanding a humanized formation of health professionals. In that way, the perspective of the health education is the one of the understanding for the change of the workers' current context with DORT and for the health promotion in those environment. / Há uma estreita relação entre o trabalho e a saúde e pode ser observada desde os períodos mais remotos da humanidade. Modernamente, com a advento de novas tecnologias e automação da produção, as doenças osteomusculares relacionadas ao trabalho (DORT), tem aumentado sua incidência mundialmente. O paradigma capitalista de produção é um fator importante nesse contexto, influenciando não apenas a etiologia dessas doenças, mas seu tratamento e a forma como elas são socialmente vivenciadas. Dessa forma, é necessário uma abordagem centrada no homem e na cultura para uma aproximação maior com este objeto. Este estudo teve o objetivo de descrever a forma como trabalhadores municipais têm vivenciado às DORT. Trata-se de um estudo descritivo de natureza qualitativa com perspectiva etnográfica realizado no Instituto de Previdência do Município de Fortaleza CE no período de Abril a Agosto de 2004. A pesquisa foi submetida ao comitê de Ética da Universidade de Fortaleza UNIFOR tendo sido aprovado. Um total de nove servidores constituíram os informantes da pesquisa que teve como instrumento de coleta a entrevista semi-estruturada. Os dados foram organizados e apresentados em forma de categorias: Perceber-se doente; Reações frente ao diagnóstico e tratamento; repercussões da doença no cotidiano; vivência das relações interpessoais com a doença. A partir dos dados podemos inferir a importância das DORT na vida dos trabalhadores. A educação em saúde nesse contexto DORT tem o sentido de favorecer mudanças no trabalho, proporcionando a construção de um ambiente saudável. Outro aspecto é a forma como essas doenças são diagnosticadas, tratadas e vividas, exigindo uma formação humanizada dos profissionais de saúde. Dessa forma, a perspectiva da educação em saúde é a da conscientização para a mudança do contexto atual dos trabalhadores com DORT e para a promoção da saúde nesses ambientes.
