Previous issue date: 2009-02-17 / O presente trabalho tem por objetivo problematizar o discurso da elite regional do Sul de Minas nos periódicos locais acerca da transição da mão-de-obra entre 1870 e 1918. Abordaremos o papel da imprensa regional e seu posicionamento político diante das diferentes opções aventadas para nova organização do mundo do trabalho num período de intensas transformações. Nesta contenda pesavam na decisão dos proprietários e políticos as opções pelo trabalhador imigrante, porém muito oneroso, ou o aproveitamento da mão-de-obra recém liberta, no entanto estigmatizada como indolente e morosa. Acreditamos que a análise de tão importante questão nos revelará quais os interesses e estratégias utilizados pelos grupos produtores e políticos para impetrar a transição da mão-de-obra em Minas. Através da análise dos diferentes projetos referente à transição da mão-de-obra na região, confiamos ser possível identificar os atores e seus discursos para melhor entender como se deu a modernização do mercado de trabalho no interior do país e a sua inserção no capitalismo mundial. Por último, assinalamos a importância da região em evidência. O sul de Minas destacava-se por sua extensão demográfica e grande representatividade política, tanto no nível estadual, quanto nacional. Economicamente também se mostrava bastante dinâmica, devido a sua tradicional vocação agropecuária voltada para o abastecimento interno, e, por outro lado, conhecia a arrebatadora expansão cafeeira em seu território, acompanhada da expansão das ferrovias. / This research gas the aim of analyzing the speech of the regional elite of the South of Minas Gerais in the regional newspapers concerning the transition of the labor between 1870 and 1918. We will approach the function of the regional press and its political point of view due to the different options fanned for world of the world´s new organization in a period of intense transformations. The options weighed in the proprietors and politics decision for the worker immigrant, however it very onerous, or the use of the labor newly frees, but stigmatized as indolent and slow. We believed that the analysis will reveal us which the interests and strategies used by the producing and political groups to petition the transition of the labor in Minas Gerais. Through the analysis of the different projects about the transition of the labor in the area, we entrusted to be possible to identify the actors and your speeches for best to understand as it felt the modernization of the labor market inside the country and your insert in the world capitalism. We marked the importance of the area in evidence. The south of Minas Gerais stood out for it demographic extension and great political representation, so much in the level state, as national. Economically also dynamics was shown, due to your traditional agricultural vocation gone back to the internal provisioning, and, on the other side, the captivating expansion of the coffee in its territory, together of the expansion of the lines of iron was known.
