identificar as iniciativas e práticas de gestão da informação arquivística no Arquivo Central da
Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro – UNIRIO para atender a esta Lei. Como
estratégia, adotou-se uma pesquisa aplicada, que possui uma abordagem qualitativa, que
assumiu a forma de um estudo de caso na Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro.
Utiliza-se como base teórica a literatura das áreas da Arquivologia, Ciência da Informação e
Administração abordando os arquivos universitários, a gestão de informação e gestão de
documentos, políticas arquivísticas, direito à informação, e cultura organizacional e
informacional. Foi aplicado um instrumento de coleta de dados aos arquivistas para conhecer
o papel do Arquivo Central como órgão estratégico para o acesso à informação na Instituição,
o grau de implementação da gestão e preservação de documentos na Instituição, a relação
entre a gestão de documentos e a implementação da Lei de Acesso à Informação e a cultura
organizacional e informacional na Instituição. Foram realizadas entrevistas com os
implementadores da Lei de Acesso à Informação e gestores da Instituição. Os resultados dessa
investigação, associados à teoria pertinente, possibilitam identificar a importância da gestão
de documentos para a efetivação do acesso à informação. / Seeks to reflect upon the impact that the Freedom of Information Act has caused in university
archives and identify the records management initiatives and practices in the Archive Service
Center of the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro – UNIRIO. As a strategy, an
applied research project was adopted, which has a qualitative approach and took the form of a
case study at the Federal University of State of Rio de Janeiro. The theoretical foundation
were based on the literature of Information Science, Archival Science and Administration.
Several concepts as university archives, information and records management, freedom of
information, and organizational and informational culture were used in the study. A data
collection instrument was used to know how archivists understand the role of the Archive
Service Center as a strategic body for access to information in the Institution. And the
questionnaire was also used to know the degree of maturity of the implementation of
management and preservation of documents in the Institution, the relationship between
records management and freedom of information, the organizational and informational culture
at the Institution. And interviews were conducted with the lead department responsible for the
Freedom of Information Act and with the managers of the University. The results of this
research associated with the theory, allow the identification of the importance of records
management for freedom of information.
