which promote and defend the separation of church and state, as well as the
neutrality of the state in relation to religious education.
Based in a the anthropological vision, it is understood that the Religious
Education can help in the development and promotion of human being in all its
dimensions, enabling integration and coexistence among followers of different
religious strands.. Therefore, it is necessary to fight so that there is a genuine
religious education within the system of public education. This work also takes into
account the situation of contemporary secular society in order to understand, then,
the role of religious education in a secular state.
The hypothesis is that the Religious Education, in Public School, does not
violate the secular state. We conclude that the State, by requiring the discipline of
Religious Education for public schools elementary school, is not violating the
constitutional principle of secularism of the state. The State must guarantee the
Religious Education as a right of citizens and students, banning any kind of
proselytizing / O objeto da presente pesquisa é analisar a controvérsia existente entre a
concepção dos que defendem e promovem a separação entre Estado e Igreja, assim
como a neutralidade do Estado em relação ao ensino religioso.
Partindo da discussão acerca de sua natureza antropológica,
compreende-se que o Ensino Religioso pode auxiliar no desenvolvimento e
promoção do ser humano em todas as suas dimensões, possibilitando uma
integração e convívio entre adeptos de diferentes vertentes religiosas. Sendo assim,
faz-se necessário lutar para que haja uma autêntica educação da religiosidade
inserida no sistema público de educação. O presente trabalho leva em consideração,
também, a situação da sociedade secular contemporânea para poder, a partir de
então, compreender o papel de um Ensino Religioso num Estado laico.
A hipótese levantada é a de que o Ensino Religioso, na Escola Pública,
não viola a laicidade do Estado. Conclui-se que o Estado, ao obrigar a disciplina do
Ensino Religioso para as escolas públicas do Ensino Fundamental, não está ferindo
o princípio constitucional da laicidade do Estado. Cabe ao Estado garantir o Ensino
Religioso como direito dos cidadãos-alunos, banindo, porém, qualquer espécie de
proselitismo
