involved in directing the traveler s look who is attached to the taste for the
nature. The signs which interest the people on their trips have a preset value in
this modern society which are important for the investigation of it. This way, it
was attempted to read the symbolic games which were hidden behind the
preferences of a determined segment of the bourgeois society, sense and
implicit meanings in the emotions of the excursionist/ mountain climber s leisure
practice. Having the theoretical support of Pierre Bourdieu s ideas of habitus
and life style and also relating the historical way modern society has gone
through and its relationship with the natural world, we see that nowadays, there
is a disposition to value this world. While the progress of an urban-industrial
society sees the necessity of revising its ideals before facing a global ecological
breakdown, men are continuously rethinking ways of doing and being. The
contact with nature these days is going through modern and civilized rituals
which are expressed as values in the symbolic game of this society / Através de uma descrição densa, procurou-se compreender os valores
envolvidos no direcionar do olhar do viajante que se apega ao gosto pela
natureza. Os signos que interessam aos indivíduos em suas viagens possuem
um valor preestabelecido nesta sociedade moderna o que se faz importante
para a investigação da mesma. Assim sendo, procurou-se ler os jogos
simbólicos que se escondem nos gostos e preferências de um determinado
segmento da sociedade burguesa, sentidos e significados implícitos nas
emoções da prática do lazer excursionista/ montanhista. Tendo o apoio teórico
das idéias de habitus e estilo de vida de Pierre Bourdieu e ainda levantando o
caminho historicamente percorrido pela sociedade moderna e seu
relacionamento com o mundo natural, vemos que hoje há uma disposição à
valorização deste mundo. Enquanto o progresso de uma sociedade urbanoindustrial
vê a necessidade de revisar seus ideais antes de um colapso
ecológico global, os homens continuam repensando suas maneiras de fazer,
modos de ser. O contato com a natureza, hoje, passa por rituais agora
modernos, civilizados, que se expressam como valores no jogo simbólico desta
sociedade
