Previous issue date: 2016-02-26 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / Partindo da premissa de que o Brasil se encontra no cenário do envelhecimento mundial e de que a habitação é um fator importante no bem estar do indivíduo, pretende-se apresentar o perfil sociodemográfico e habitacional dos idosos em Minas Gerais. O principal objetivo é analisar as características habitacionais da população idosa do Estado de Minas Gerais, considerando a estrutura domiciliar onde residem bem como o grupo de idade em que se encontram. Buscou-se caracterizar o perfil do idoso, identificando onde e como mora. Para tal, optou-se pela pesquisa descritiva com dados secundários oriundos da PNAD 2013 (IBGE). Tanto a extração quanto todo o processo de tratamento e análise dos dados foram feitos por meio do programa estatístico STATA – Data Analysis and Statistical Software, versão 12.0. Concluiu-se que o investimento escolar para população idosa de Minas Gerais não seja suficiente, além do fato de que as idosas se encontram em número maior. Concluiu- se, ainda, que os idosos moram, em sua maioria, na área urbana em casas de alvenaria servidas de saneamento básico e de bens duráveis e que possuem renda per capita domiciliar entre 1⁄2 a 2 salários mínimos. O arranjo domiciliar mais vivenciado por esse contingente foi o da “Família Estendida”, apesar de notória uma porcentagem significativa de idosos morando sozinhos. / Assuming that Brazil fits in the world's aging scenario and that the housing is an important factor in the welfare of the individual, this article aims to present the sociodemographic and residential profile of the elderly in Minas Gerais. The main goal is to analyze the residential nature of the aging population of the State of Minas Gerais, concerning the house structure where they reside and the age group they are in as well. It sought to characterize the elderly profile, identifying where and how they live. To this end, we opted for the descriptive research with secondary data from the National Household Survey 2013 (IBGE). Both, the extraction and the whole step of processing and analyzing the data and the analysis of data were done using statistical software STATA - Data Analysis and Statistical Software, version 12.0. It was concluded that the elderly population from Minas Gerais receives not enough education investment, also that the amount of old women is greater. It was also concluded that elderly live, mostly, in urban areas and in houses made of brick served by basic sanitation and durable goods and has per capita income home between 1⁄2 to 2 minimum wages. The living arrangement more experienced by the quota was extended family, despite a significant percentage of the elderly living alone.
