Este trabalho examina as quatro primeiras edições da Bienal do Mercosul, ocorridas entre 1997 e 2003, tendo como referência principal o depoimento de artistas que participaram da mostra. Ao mesmo tempo, essa dissertação investiga o espaço histórico, onde o modelo expositivo bienal surge e desenvolve-se; o espaço transitório, próprio da proliferação de eventos culturais; e o espaço subjetivo, onde ocorre a experiência da arte. / This piece of work examines the first four editions of the Bienal do Mercosul occurred between 1997 and 2003, taking as main reference testimonies of participant artists. In parallel, this dissertation inquires into the historical space, where the exposition model of 'bienal' emerges and develops; the transitory space, proper of the reproduction of cultural events; and the subjective space, where art experience itself occurs.
