A presente dissertação busca compreender a interação entre trabalho imaterial e lazer nos modos de trabalhar e de viver de bancários inseridos em um Banco Múltiplo Privado e em um Banco de Desenvolvimento, e se tal interação se configura em dilemas pessoais contemporâneos. Trata-se de um estudo exploratório que contou com a participação de 30 sujeitos, sendo 15 sujeitos do Banco Múltiplo Privado e 15 do Banco de Desenvolvimento. A coleta de dados se deu através de entrevistas individuais semi-estruturadas. Também foram utilizados dados secundários, como documentos, relatórios e dados estatísticos dos bancos pesquisados. Para analisar os dados foi utilizada a análise de conteúdo. A análise dos resultados se deu à luz do referencial teórico sobre trabalho imaterial bancário, lazer e dilemas pessoais contemporâneos. Os resultados da pesquisa indicam que o trabalho imaterial bancário pode interferir no lazer dos bancários, bem como em sua vida pessoal como um todo. Estas vivências podem se constituir em dilemas pessoais contemporâneos, uma vez que os sujeitos convivem constantemente com situações de escolha entre o dever e o lazer, nas quais não há alternativa satisfatória. Neste dilema pessoal a responsabilidade pela escolha recai sobre os sujeitos, embora o cenário do trabalho emita mensagens enfáticas dos possíveis prejuízos pela negligência para com o dever. Tanto que no Banco Múltiplo Privado, onde os modos de trabalhar atrapalham ou impedem o lazer, todos os sujeitos mencionaram a frase “trabalho em primeiro lugar” ou algo neste sentido, reforçando e justificando a vivência do dilema. Já no Banco de Desenvolvimento, onde os modos de trabalhar são mais favoráveis à realização do lazer, frases neste tom não foram expressas. / The present dissertation searches to understand the interaction between immaterial work and leisure in the ways to work and the ways of living of bank workers inserted in a Private Commercial Bank and in a Development Bank, and if such interaction configures personal contemporaries quandaries. It is an exploratory study that counted on the participation of 30 individuals, being 15 individuals of the Private Commercial Bank and 15 of the Development Bank. The data was collected through individual semi-structured interviews. Also it was used secondary data, as documents, reports and statistical data of the searched banks. To analyze the data the content analysis was used. The analysis of the results was developed from theoretical references about immaterial banking work, leisure and personal contemporaries quandaries. The results of the research indicate that the immaterial banking work can intervene in the leisure of the bank workers, as well as in their personal life as a whole. These experiences can consist in personal contemporaries quandaries, since the individuals constantly coexist with situations of choice between the duty and the leisure, in which do not have satisfactory alternative. Into this personal quandary the responsibility for the choice falls again on the individuals, even so the work scene emits emphatics messages of the possible damages for the recklessness with the duty. As much that in the Private Commercial Bank, where the ways to work confuse or hinder the leisure, all the individuals had mentioned the phrase “work in first place” or something in this direction, strengthening and justifying the experience of the quandary. Already in the Development Bank, where the ways to work are more favorable to the accomplishment of the leisure, phrases in this tone had not been expressed.
