Este estudo tem como objetivo investigar as possíveis influências e relações entre o simbolismo e ideário cavaleiresco e a obra de Santa Teresa de Jesus, também conhecida como Santa Teresa de Ávila, monja carmelita que viveu entre 1515 e 1582 na Espanha. Isto é demonstrado a partir da análise de suas leituras e da recepção por parte de Teresa dos livros de cavalarias, gênero literário muito conhecido na época. A pesquisa está dividida em três capítulos. O primeiro capítulo é sobre algumas imagens construídas ao longo do tempo sobre a personagem de Santa Teresa, constituindo uma espécie de revisão bibliográfica. O segundo propõe estudar as relações entre Teresa e suas leituras, bem como a visão criada pela escritora sobre os valores da honra e da nobreza, temas recorrentes na literatura cavaleiresca. O terceiro capítulo tem como objetivo discutir sobre as influências que pode ter sofrido Santa Teresa ao escrever “Moradas del Castillo Interior”, enfatizando, neste sentido, os livros de cavalarias espanhóis. / This study has as aim to investigate the possibilities of influences and connections between the symbolism and chivalry ideas’ values and the work of Saint Teresa of Jesus, a.k.a. Saint Teresa of Avila, carmelite nun who lived since 1515 until 1582 at Spain. It is demonstrated from the analysis of her lectures and the reception by Teresa of the books of chivalry, literary genre well known at that period. The search is divided on three chapters. The first chapter is about some images constructed by the pass of the years about the person of Saint Teresa, constituting a bibliographical revision. The second one intends to study the connections between Teresa and her lectures, as much as the vision created by the writer about the values of honor and nobility, recurrent themes on chivalry literature. The third chapter has as aim to discuss about the influences that must be suffered Saint Teresa on writing “Moradas del Castillo Interior”, emphasizing on the Spanish books of chivalry.
