Esta dissertação tem como objetivo analisar o papel da Agência de Fomento no desenvolvimento econômico do Rio Grande do Sul. Para tal, no primeiro capítulo, revisa-se o papel do sistema financeiro no desenvolvimento – aspectos teóricos; no segundo capítulo, a constituição, histórico e modificações sofridas, ao longo dos anos, pelos bancos de desenvolvimento em nível de Brasil. No terceiro capítulo, a criação do Badesul e o processo de incorporação ao Banrisul e posteriormente a criação da Agência de Fomento. / This paper has the objective to analyze the role of the Development Agency in the economic progress of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. For such, in the first chapter the paper of the financial system in the development – theoretical aspects, was revised, in the second chapter the constitution, description and modifications suffered through the years by the banks of development in Brazil. In the third, the creation of Badesul and the process of incorporation to Banrisul and also the creation of the development agency were evaluated.
