Previous issue date: 2012-08-13 / From the relationship established between media representation and identity construction, the objective of this study was to analyze the representation of old age and aging in Brazilian cinema, problematizing this singularity in the construction of gender identity. Recognizing the patriarchal discourse as a hegemonic practice in western culture, responsible by the regulating of behavior and defining of media stereotyped patterns, the look turned here to the representations Brazilian that offer some form of resistance and/or criticism of the patterns of non-aging and to the look of male dominance. What are the new looks that emerge of representations of female aging in contemporary Brazilian cinema? Under what conditions these new forms of cinematic representation can operate? To answer these questions, we selected four Brazilian films produced after the Resumption of national cinema: Casa de Areia (2005), of Andrucha Waddington; Chega de Saudade (2008), of Laís Bodanzky; A Dança da Vida (2008), of Juan Zapata and Olhos de Ressaca (2009), of Petra Costa. Through the film analysis, we found the emergence of new forms of symbolic manifestation of aging, within the possibilities of women's liberation and dialogue with the male. We found also the building of creative and subversives looks on the subject, in alternative circuit and/or in commercial circuit. / A partir da relação que se estabelece entre representação midiática e construção identitária, objetivou-se neste trabalho analisar a representação da velhice e do envelhecimento no cinema brasileiro, problematizando essa singularidade na construção cinematográfica da identidade de gênero. Reconhecendo o discurso patriarcal como prática hegemônica na cultura ocidental, responsável pela regulação de comportamentos e definidor de padrões midiáticos estereotipados, contemplou-se aqui as representações cinematográficas brasileiras que oferecem alguma forma de resistência e/ou crítica aos padrões consumistas anti- envelhecimento e à posição de dominância masculina. Quais são os novos olhares que emergem das representações do envelhecimento feminino no cinema brasileiro contemporâneo? Em quais condições essas novas formas de representação cinematográfica podem operar? Para responder a essas questões, foram selecionados quatro filmes brasileiros produzidos após a Retomada do cinema nacional, que representam o envelhecimento feminino e permitem, em algum aspecto, uma leitura contradiscursiva: Casa de Areia (2005), de Andrucha Waddington; Chega de Saudade (2008), de Laís Bodanzky; A Dança da Vida (2008), de Juan Zapata e Olhos de Ressaca (2009), de Petra Costa. Por meio da Análise Fílmica das obras, constatou-se a emergência de novas formas de manifestação simbólica na representação do envelhecimento, dentro de possibilidades de libertação feminina e de diálogos com o masculino. Percebeu-se também a construção de olhares criativos e subversivos sobre a temática, postos em circulação de forma alternativa e/ou comercial.
