Previous issue date: 2010-11-26 / O presente trabalho objetiva analisar a realidade de desenvolvimento Agropecuário do município de Igarapé-Açu para, com base nas potencialidades e oportunidades do território e na visão de seus atores locais, propor linhas estratégicas de desenvolvimento sustentável. Particularmente, a pesquisa examina, com base em dados secundários e primários levantados em oficinas de diagnóstico participativo, as principais tendências e entraves ao processo de desenvolvimento municipal. Levanta a questão de quais as possibilidades de desenvolvimento sustentável num território marcado por um processo histórico de ocupação das mais antigas da Amazônia. Tem-se como lócus de análise o município de Igarapé-Açu, localizado ao nordeste do Estado do Pará. / The goal of the present work is to analyze the current agricultural and cattle raising developmental situation at the municipality of Igarapé-Açu, and to suggest sustainable development strategic paths based on local potentials, opportunities, and on the views of the local political leaders. This research particularly examines, based on data gathered from participatory approach workshop, the main tendencies and difficulties to the municipality development process. Raises the question of which are the sustainable development possibilities at a region strongly influenced by one of the oldest Amazonian occupation processes of the region. This analysis locus is at the municipality of Igarapé-Açu, located at the northeast region of the State of Pará.
