Previous issue date: 2016 / Essa pesquisa perscrutou os rastros da existência do Abrigo Municipal de Alienados Oscar Schneider encontrando pistas que permitiram contextualizar a história desta que foi a primeira instituição criada em Joinville (SC) com a finalidade de garantir o tratamento aos ditos loucos, e assim problematizar sua memória na cidade. Para isso, nessa dissertação, lançou-se o olhar para a transformação do território escolhido para a edificação do Abrigo de Alienados (1923-1942): o prédio construído aos fundos do cemitério municipal serviu após o fechamento da instituição psiquiátrica como Presídio Político (1942-1945) e, mais tarde, como moradia para familiares de policias militares, para então, depois de demolido dar lugar aos túmulos e jazigos, servindo à ampliação do cemitério. Pesquisar sobre o território que recebeu os sujeitos produzidos como infames em diferentes tempos, permitiu se aproximar do silenciamento que envolve suas histórias no cotidiano da cidade e, também, entender que esse espaço se configura como uma verdadeira Cidade dos Mortos , que sempre se destinou a receber a morte não apenas em seu estado mais concreto, mas a morte que se experimenta em vida pela experiência da clausura e do confinamento.<br> / Abstract : This research enquired the trails of the existence of the Oscar Schneider Alienated People s Municipal Shelter , finding leads which allowed to contextualize the history of that which was the first
institution created in Joinville (SC) with the finality of guaranteeing the treatment of the so-called mad people, and thus problematize its memory in the city. For that end, on this dissertation, it was glanced at
the transformation of the territory chosen for the edification of the Alienated People s Shelter (1923-1942): the building which was built at the back of the municipal cemetery functioned, after the psychiatric institution s closure, as a Political Prison (1942-1945), and, later, as dwelling for military policemen s relatives, for then, after it was demolished, give place to the graves and tombstones, serving to the cemetery s enlargement. To research about the territory which received the subjects produced as infamous at different times allowed to approach the silencing which involves their stories in the everyday of the city, and also to understand that this space sets itself up as a true City of the Dead , which was always destined to receive death not only at its most concrete state, but as death which one experiments in life through the experience of enclosure and confinement.
