Previous issue date: 2016 / A presente pesquisa tem como principal objetivo fazer um levantamento quantitativo e qualitativo da prática tradutória realizada por mulheres nos séculos XIX e XX no Brasil, a fim de verificar o grau de sua participação e influência na cena literária do País nesse período. Pretendeu-se, com isso, contribuir para a construção de uma historiografia da tradução no Brasil, de modo que resgate a significativa participação de mulheres nessa importante atividade cultural. Foi traçada, para essa finalidade, um percurso da prática tradutória no País, desde os anos oitocentistas, acolhendo pesquisas de Paes (1990), Torres (2014), Wyler (2003), entre outros. Além disso, foram consideradas as discussões de teorias feministas que analisam de que forma os valores sociais e posições de hierarquia social se relacionam com a tradução e as estratégias feministas de tradução. Discorreu-se, também, sob o ponto de vista histórico, acerca dos movimentos de mulheres em ambos os séculos, a fim de situar o período e contexto em que as tradutoras estavam inseridas e descobrir de que forma esses movimentos receberam e tiveram influência sobre as teorias feministas e a prática de tradução. Por fim, são apresentados os dados encontrados sobre as tradutoras brasileiras, por meio de pesquisa em bibliotecas, internet e diversas fontes, e realizados estudos de caso com tradutoras pernambucanas de ambos os séculos. O marco teórico que norteia este estudo desenvolve-se a partir dos estudos de Chamberlain (1988), Bassnett (1992), von Flotow (1997), Simon (1996), entre outras, e, quanto à pesquisa das tradutoras, têm grande importância as obras de Muzart (2013) e Coelho (2002), além da procura, em diversos meios, pelas traduções.<br> / Abstract : This research aims to make a quantitative and qualitative survey of translation practice performed by women in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, in Brazil, in order to verify the degree of their participation and influence in the country's literary scene in this period. It was intended, therefore, to contribute to the construction of a historiography of the translation in Brazil, in a way that the meaningful participation of women, in this important cultural activity, could be rescued. It was traced, for this purpose, a path of translation practice in the country, since the nineteenth-century years, welcoming research of Paes (1990), Torres (2014), Wyler (2003), among others. In addition, it was considered the discussions of feminist theories that analyze how social values and social hierarchy positions relate to translation and feminist strategies of translation. It was also discussed, from the historical point of view, about the women's movements in both centuries in order to situate the period and context in which the translators were inserted and to discover how these movements have received and had an influence on feminist theories and practice of translation. Finally, the data found on Brazilian translators were presented through research in libraries, internet and various sources, and it was also conducted case studies with Pernambuco translators of both centuries. The theoretical framework that guides this study is developed from Chamberlain (1988), Bassnett (1992), von Flotow (1997) and Simon?s (1996) studies, among others, and, as the search of the translators, have great importance the works of Muzart (2013) and Coelho (2002) besides the demand in various ways for the translations.
