Previous issue date: 2016 / Esta dissertação se propõe a realizar a tradução comentada para o português de dois textos de Ugo Foscolo, que viveu entre os séculos XVIII e XIX: o Saggio d?un Gazzettino del bel mondo e o Saggio d?un Gazzettino del bon ton inglese, ambos presentes na coletânea Lettere Scritte dall?Inghilterra (Gazzettino del bel mondo). Esses ensaios foram escritos durante o período de exílio do autor na Inglaterra, entre os anos de 1816 e 1827. A proposta da tradução dos ensaios de Foscolo é baseada em Antoine Berman (1995, 2012), com a defesa da tradução da letra. A análise da tradução pautou-se em tópicos considerados importantes para o texto de chegada, tais como o ritmo, a ortografia, a ironia, além de um enfoque sobre o uso de pronomes de tratamento. Espera-se com esta dissertação contribuir para que a obra de Foscolo seja melhor conhecida pelo público brasileiro ou mesmo de língua portuguesa. Autores como Palumbo (1994), Verdenelli (2007) e Nicoletti (2006) serviram para embasar o estudo acerca da produção literária de Foscolo, bem como para dar suporte teórico-crítico sobre a vida do autor e a influência que esta teve em seus escritos, sempre com forte crítica política e social, em defesa da pátria italiana. O trabalho está dividido em três capítulos: no primeiro, faz-se uma apresentação do autor relacionando a vida de Foscolo com a sua produção literária, além de refletir acerca do que representa o ensaio epistolar, característica dos textos traduzidos neste projeto; no segundo capítulo, são trazidas as traduções dos ensaios Saggio d?un Gazzettino del bel mondo e o Saggio d?un Gazzettino del bon ton inglese, com o texto em italiano ao lado do texto em português; finalmente, no terceiro capítulo, é realizada a análise das traduções empreendidas com base na tradução da letra, destacando os marcadores temporais, tais como os pronomes de tratamento, as abreviações e iniciais maiúsculas, questões de léxico e semântica - arcaísmos, prefixos, nomes e abreviaturas - além de questões estilístico-sintáticas e a ironia, elemento importante destes textos foscolianos.<br> / Abstract : This dissertation intends to realize a comented translation to Portuguese of two Ugo Foscolo?s texts, a writer who lived between the XVIII and XIX centuries: Saggio d?un Gazzettino del bel mondo and Saggio d?un Gazzettino del bon ton inglese, both from the epistolary Lettere Scritte dall?Inghilterra (Gazzettino del bel mondo). These essays were written during the author?s exile period in England, between the years 1816-1827. The translation purpose of Foscolo?s essays is based in Antoine Berman (1995, 2012) with his defense of the translation of the letter. The translation analysis was based in topics considered important to the translated text, i.e., rhythm, orthography, irony, besides an emphasis on the use of treatment pronouns. I hope to make a great contribution with this work in order to make Foscolo?s writings well-known by the Brazilian people or even the Portuguese speakers. Authors like Palumbo (1994), Verdenelli (2007) and Nicoletti (2006) were used to give basis to the study about Foscolo?s literary production as well as to give some theoretical-critical support on the author?s life and its influence on his texts, always with strong political and social critics in defense of the Italian nation. The work is divided in three chapters: in the first one, it is made a presentation of the author relating Foscolo?s life to his literary production, besides reflecting about what an epistolary essay represents, a characteristic of the texts here translated; in the second chapter the translations of the following essays are presented: Saggio d?un Gazzettino del bel mondo and Saggio d?un Gazzettino del bon ton inglese, with the text in Italian next to the one in Portuguese; at last, in the third chapter, it is done the translation analysis based in the translation of the letter, highlighting the temporal markers, i.e., treatment pronouns, abreviations, and capital letters, lexical and semantical issues ? archaisms, prefixes, names and acronyms - besides stylistical and synctatical issues and the irony, a great mark of these foscolian texts.
