223370.pdf: 8262488 bytes, checksum: acf062f0a015997e6107fcbdd470ace9 (MD5) / Através da investigação de como o Unicentro Izabela Hendrix da Igreja Metodista - uma instituição confessional de ensino, não pública - alinhou-se ao denominado Terceiro Setor, o presente trabalho pretende contribuir para a visão de como foi colocado em prática o compromisso com os excluídos, uma das muitas vocações da mantenedora da instituição pesquisada, e apresentar sugestões para que entidades privadas de educação possam cumprir com a sua responsabilidade de organização social, relacionando a prática educativa à prática de atos contínuos de solidariedade que visem à inclusão, considerando a importância de Agir Þ Transformar Þ Agir novamente. Tomando como base as principais teorias e pesquisas correntes sobre Terceiro Setor, cidadania empresarial e voluntariado, esta pesquisa busca identificar os pressupostos básicos relacionados às ações de serviço civil voluntário, considerando-se a reciprocidade existente entre o Movimento Metodista e o Terceiro Setor, visto que ambos são caracterizados pela questão da responsabilidade social. Este trabalho é um estudo de caso, apoiado na combinação de três técnicas de coleta de dados: a análise documental, a observação participante e as entrevistas. A utilização dessas técnicas buscou o reconhecimento dos componentes da relação entre o processo de ação social voluntária e educação, desde as origens do Movimento Metodista - em ambiente acadêmico na Inglaterra das transformações sociais do século XVIII, até as Recomendações da Organização das Nações Unidas para 2001, Ano Internacional dos Voluntários, sendo visitadas a implantação da Igreja Metodista no Brasil, a fundação do Colégio Izabela Hendrix e sua transformação em um centro universitário. Sustentada pela literatura pesquisada, foi feita uma análise dos dados obtidos, que ofereceram as informações para a avaliação do trabalho executado pelo Unicentro Izabela Hendrix, em parceria com a Prefeitura Municipal de Nova Lima, Minas Gerais, no Projeto "Empresa Cidadã", da Secretaria Municipal de Ação Social daquele município, sendo apontadas estratégias para iniciativas de cunho social que auxiliem a escola não pública a inserir-se, eficientemente, no Terceiro Setor.
Through the investigation of how Unicentro Izabela Hendrix of the Methodist Church - a professed non-public institution of learning - aligned itself to the designated Third Sector, the present work aspires to contribute to the vision of how the commitment to the poor and the destitute was put into practice, as this is one of the sustaining vocations of the investigated institution. It also attempts to introduce suggestions so that private educational entities may fulfill their responsibility of social organizations, relating educational experience to the exercise of continuous acts of solidarity and social action aimed at inclusion, keeping in mind the importance of the trinomial Act Þ Transform Þ Act again. Having as a base the principle theories and prevailing research on volunteerism, this work sought to identify the basic presuppositions related to the actions of voluntary civil service, considering the existing reciprocity between the Methodist Movement and the Third Sector, given that both are characterized by the question of social responsibility. This work is a case study, supported by a combination of three techniques of data collection: document analysis, interviews and participant observation. The use of these techniques searched for recognition of the components of the relationship between the process of voluntary social action and education, from the origins of the Methodist Movement in the academic environment of England during the social transformations of the 18th century up to the Recommendations of the United Nations Organization for 2001, International Year of Volunteers, examining the implementation of the Methodist Church in Brazil, the founding of Izabela Hendrix as an elementary and a secondary school, and its transformation into an academic center. Supported by the research literature, an analysis was made of the obtained results which offers the information for the evaluation of the work executed by Unicentro Izabela Hendrix, in partnership with the Secretary of Social Action of the Municipality of Nova Lima, Minas Gerais, in the project designated "Business Citizen", citing strategies for social initiatives that will help the non-public school insert itself efficiently in the Third Sector.
